The end of the Iran-Iraq war and the acceptance of a bilateral ceasefire brought about changes in Iranian diplomacy and paved the way for the re-establishment of political relations with some countries and the establishment of relations with countries that were close to Iran in terms of political positions settled as the foreign policy agenda. Syria, which was in this category of countries, has a special place in Iran's foreign policy, in a way, it has been mentioned as a friendly and brotherly country. Creating the ground for the collapse of the bipolar system has taken Syria out of its former state. Under such circumstances, Syria sought to rebuild its political relations with the moderate Arab world. With Iraq's invasion against Kuwait, Iran-Syria relations, which had been somewhat strained by the Lebanese issue, were affected, caused to pave the way for a resumption of political cooperation between the two countries. In this research, we decided to use a descriptive-analytical method based on library information and documents to study the factors affecting the relations between Iran and Syria after the eight-year sacred war. Findings show that factors such as Taif agreement and Iran-Syria positions, Iraq invasion of Kuwait and Iran-Syria positions, Madrid Peace Conference and Iran-Syria positions, Iran-UAE disputes and Syria stance, Turkey invasion of northern Iraq and Iran-Syria positions, Turkey-Israel strategic alliance and Iran-Syria positions and Turkey-Syria differences have been among the factors influencing Iran-Syria relations after the eight-year sacred war.
